I need metric adapters for a Kioti 2375 backhoe and a KL130
loader. Does anyone know the size for the hose connection to
the hydraulic cylinders? How about a source, too? I want to
connect my pressure test guage to the hose end at the cylinder,
and I want to adapt same to a hydraulic PHD. My usual online
adapter supplier carries no metrics.

They don't use any metric on hyd fittings.... they are all standard..... Should be able to get them at any auto parts store or farm store that sells hydraulics...

I keep quite a collection of JIC, SAE ORB, and NPT hyd fittings and
the Kioti is close to a 3/8 JIC, but the thread is different and the
diameter is just off. Have you actually tried connecting a Kioti hose
to a JIC or NPT adapter?

When you say 3/8" JIC do you mean a #3 JIC which actually has 3/8" - 24 straight threads or do you mean something else? A 3/8" pipe thread (straight or tapered) will have 18 threads per inch and will actually have an outside diameter of .67 inches while the JIC will be a true 3/8" (.37"). Confusing??  Yes.

Measure the thread diameter and # of threads per inch. Any machinist handbook will have cross references so you can see exactly what you got.

They used #5 JIC fittings on my CK20 loader valve, #6 ORB male to #5 JIC male on the loader valve. The hose has #5 JIC females on each end. Then they tried to make a bulkhead out of a #5 JIC male by 3/8" NPT male thru a plate sandwiched by two washers on one side and one on the other into 3/8" female quick connects ( this is where the loader QD's hook up). Make sense?

For future reference, a #5 JIC is a true 1/2"-20 thread. A #6 ORB (or a #6 JIC or an SAE 6) is a true 9/16"-18 thread. Remember hose size has nothing to do with fitting size.

It is indeed 1/2-20 threads, so #5 JIC (5/16) it is. Unusual size.
All other tractors and hyd eqp I have had used #4s, #6s, #8s, #10s.
No #5s. I also noticed the thread-thread diameter of the fitting
on the cylinder is slighty less than 1/2", so I was guessing it was
M12 x 1.00. The diameter is also a little less than the common
1/2-13 bolts I have lying around...

Thanks Steve and Mad!

I don't know how many times I've told my wife this:D
