KIOTI LK3054 Starter Problem

When I attempt to start my 3054, the starter motor whizzes but does not engage. The battery is new. If I click the starter switch until it sounds like it is engaging, then pull the decompression knob and try again, it occassionally starts.
Do you think I need to replace the entire starter/solenoid assy or just the solenoid (magnet switch) assy.

I've always had better luck repairing starters and alternators, by removing them and taking them to the local alt/starter repair shop and letting them fix it for me .
I had a similar problem with the starter on my JD 850 a few years back, the repair shop said they replaced a bad clutch assembly ( something like that anyway, starters/alternators are not my strongest self repair items /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

Same here...
Take it to your local starter - altinator rebuild shop. They can fix it right the first time. Its cheeper in the long run that way. virgil

I hate to ask such an obvious question, but is it under warranty? If so, don't mess with it, get the dealer to fix it. You don't want to void the warranty if it's current. John
