I have a question for you folks with pump failures,were you running some type of diesel fuel additive?coobie
This is a valid question... and maybe something that should be added to that spread sheet you guys are working on. 99% of the time we see an injection pump problem its because there was dirt \ water \ mulch \ {insert contaminate here} in the fuel.
This might be interesting to know but the dominant failure mode is broken gear teeth on the IP rack and/or gears and these parts are lubricated by engine oil. So, IMO, fuel lubricity may be a factor in plunger/cylinder wear or delivery valve wear but I think it's a red herring when discussing broken gear teeth.
IMO, Kioti USA is missing a golden opportunity to polish their reputation here. If these IP failures are as rare as we think, Kioti could buy a lot of good will by replacing these few defective IPs if and when they fail, and at very little cost if they establish a repair process. The individual plunger/cylinder/gear assemblies (e.g. ZEXEL PFR-ARRICULTURE PLUNGER ASSEMBLY - NEW | eBay) can be replaced in these IPs. Just the gear can be replaced DIY but you need an IP bench to synchronize injection timing if you replace the plunger/cylinder.
For potential buyers: I love my DK45S even though it's a 2006 model that might experience this IP problem. It's strong, rugged, and has great features (like telescoping 3-point arms and a QA bucket) that make life a lot easier for an amateur like me. I've had no unscheduled maintenance except for replacing parts that got lost. Scheduled maintenance is easy, even with the loader installed. TBN has a great (and smart) Kioti user community that has been very helpful to me. On the downside, some of the older documentation (e.g. service manual) ain't so great and the dealer network is immature. By that I mean that there are fewer dealers than some makes and dealer quality varies; so having a good dealer is important, having a nearby good dealer is even better. But how does a potential buyer know dealer quality? I would suggest getting input from other customers. Also, a long-established dealer in an area with competition must be doing something right.
