Kioti DK45SE HST ignition switch

My 2010 Kioti DK 45SE HST (no cab) has been setting outside for a few weeks in this unusually rainy summer and the ignition switch started acting up. It would crank and start, but quit when I released the key. I could hear a relay up by the front clicking. I figured it was a moisture problem with something electrical.

Called the dealer and explained my trouble to the service guy. He said it was most likely the ignition switch, he checked...they had one...$80.00. I decided to remove the old one and check it out. Thought I'd take it apart, dry it out, clean the contacts, and try it before throwing down $80.

Well, If you try this, have a nice, clean place to do it and be ready for springs and tiny steel balls to go everywhere! I managed to gather all the parts, cleaned with contact cleaner and a paper towel, and after 3 attempts, got it all back together. Plugged it in...success!

Cleaned out a stall in the barn and the Kioti has a nice, dry, parking place.

When Mine set outside, in the rain, I had some trouble wit it too.. I sprayed it full of Fluid Film twice over a period of 2 weeks, an have never had any more trouble with it in well over a year.. Of course it now sits in a nice barn for about a year now. But in my opinion it is worth a try first. Several of the guys here have had success with dis-assembly and cleaning. That was my next step too, but I though I would try the Fluid Film first and see if it would fix it.
