Kioti DK45
Hello all,

I made the mistake of letting my DK45 sit with an empty tank over the winter and got on it for the first time last week and quickly ran out of fuel. After filling the tank, the Kioti wouldn't start and I realized the system was full of water. I've spent time flushing the tank and what lines I could get to and introducing the fuel back into the system, but I am having issues with what seems to be the fuel pump now which never gave me problems before. My fuel filter bulb is empty (with a new filter installed). When I crank the engine over, the fuel pump isn't filling the bulb back up. I've removed the hose going to the pump from the tank to ensure fuel is flowing, and it is. I'm just not getting any fuel to pump into the glass bulb.

Any suggestions on what I can do would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Try taking the line off after the filter and see what you get.

Thanks for the suggestion, LeeJohn. We did try that yesterday and we are getting fuel to pass through pump. But when we crank the engine, the pump isn't filling up the bulb.

Basic question but did someone close the cock on the top of the filter housing? The other thing, is there fuel at the filter?

The last thing you should be concerned about is the injection pump! Most problems with diesels have to do with the fuel delivery system from the tank to the injector pump inlet.

Make sure that you have adequate fuel flow from the tank. make sure the vent in the fuel cap is not obstructed. There maybe a shut off valve at the tank outlet that's closed or the outlet strainer is clogged. When you run a diesel out of fuel or change the fuel filter, or other wise open the fuel delivery system, you need to bleed the air out of the fuel delivery system. See your owners manual for instructions on how to bleed the system. If you tractor has a lift pump that pumps the fuel to the injector pump, it often has a screen in it. Check that.

If the filter bulb is empty, open the bleeder screw on the top to allow the air to come put and see if it fills with fuel. Again see the owner manual!

Try to keep you fuel tank full to prevent water condensation which can allow bacteria to live at the fuel/water interface and can clog filters and strainers ads well as ice up filters and strainers.

Again read the owners manual! A lot of the information I'm talking about should be found there.
