So no more second guessing the Kioti CK. That's what I'm going to buy. But, the dealer is really trying to sell me the CK4010HST that's been sitting on his lot since last year. It's a little faded and has a few rusted dings on the ROPs.

He quoted me the following:
-With Rimguard
-With 2 rear remotes

CK3510HST TLB (Brand new, soon to have one in stock) --- $24,800
CK4010HST TLB (NOS, see above) --- $25,900

Does anybody know what the price difference usually is between two identical models but one has 5 more horsepower?

I don't believe I need anywhere near 40 horsepower except I do want a rear snowblower at some point and it seems a lot of them require 30 pto hp or are narrower than the tractor (dealer says 66" wide with Industrial tires).

The other thing I was thinking is just get a 64" that requires less HP and put little side extensions on it to get over 66".

Only other reason I would do it is if he were offering an amazing deal but it doesn't really feel amazing.

What is your best guess about how long you will operate the new tractor before you say: "I wish I got the one with more horsepower?"

Between a Kubota L3301 and 3901, identical except for HP and the same HP as the two tractors you're looking at, the difference is about $2000.

At my local dealer on Tuesday and the difference he quoted on the 2 models (w/loader and gear, not HST), was $1200.

CK3510 - 17800
CK4010 - 19000

The CK3510 will be fine. I have a 6' blower that I've had no issue operating with mine.

Also, tread width is ~ 63" with industrial tires

Is yours hydro or gear? Thanks for that measurement!

Welcome to TBN....

I agree with plowhog. For $900 difference I'd get the 40HP.

I have a 36HP tractor. If the 40HP was only $900 more I'd have gone that way but the difference was $2k when I was buying my LS.

Hey - mine is HST as well.

The other thing to check is bucket width - there were 2 options when I purchased: 60" or 66" - again 66" will cover your width if you're using the loader to push any snow

at quoted 28 PTO HP the only issue I've had was bush hogging a few times with a 5' - and it was going through thick 5' tall in a wet area. Other than that it's been plenty for what I need it for.

I say go with the 40hp.

ALWAYS get one bigger than what you want.
