Kioti DK45S Cab
Hi all. I am in the market for my first tractor. I have decided on a cab model but not a manufacturer. I wanted to get up to see Wallace's tractors last week, but I just couldn't get the time for the drive. I did get to a local Deere dealer and had the chance to climb into one of their 3320 cabs and I loved it.

I'm considering the DK45s cab also. Does anyone have that model or any of the Kioti cab models? How do you like them? Any pictures of the inside of the cabs you can post for me? Thanks.

I bought a used DK55c and had previously had a open Mahindra 6000. The cab is great on a couple of counts. One is dust, probably the most important issue for me in that it reduces fatigue. Also, the ability to move and do things in the rain. On my last trip to the farm, I was trying to wind things up the last day/hour and I bought a couple of discs and needed to get them transported about five miles. It was pouring rain and needless to say the cab made that task, even though it held me up, a non-event.

The one disadvantage is navigating through low branches and brush. You can't just reach up and push a branch out of the way, so you end up plowing through. I lost my radio antenna as a result.

As far as ergonomics and the Kioti in particular go, I'm very pleased. I'm 6'2" and find the cabin area comfortable, the A/c keeps me cool(which makes spending more time cutting a breeze), Heat is nice also, but I'm usually more bundled up in the winter anyway and not doing as long a stint in the tractor like when I'm mowing. Lighting. I like the lights but the reverse lights are like floods and the operating lights(to the rear) are more spots. I would prefer the floods front and back. I may try and upgrade the lighting, but really it's fine as it is, I'd just like it to be daylight if possible.

Here's a few cab pics of the inside of a 45 DK. Would not call the cab spacious but nice for that size tractor, good AC in the summer, heat in the winter has been iffy. For best efficiency in the winter you probably should put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. Doors are sturdy and well constructed, mirrors are great, worklights in the front and back light up the night, has a small toolbox behind the seat which comes in handy. The cab is tight, not sure how sound levels compare to the JD cabs, but suits me.
All cab controls are easy to reach. Would not travel far for their radio and tape player, they are Panasonic, but CD player would be much better.

I have a 2006 DK65SC, and the cab is great, if only for the A/C. It does a pretty good job of cooling things down even in South Texas heat. A down side to the A/C is the difficulty of getting the rear screens (between the a/c condenser and the radiator) out to clear them. The Owner's Manual doesn't even mention the screens. I couldn't figure out why my tractor kept overheating, and finally found the screens and then spent a couple of hours figuring out how to remove them.

My only other cab complaint is the temper of the safety glass in the cab windows. I do a lot of brush clearing and shredding. So far I have had to have a rear window and driver's side door window replaced, and they ain't cheap, especially when the repair company charges $200.00 a trip to come out. The dealer will not replace glass and strongly recommends that it be installed by a professional. I can accept the blame for the rear window, but I hit branches the size of the one that broke the door regularly with my pickup.

Thanks for the pics Oleozz. This is what I was looking for. Sounds like your not completely happy with the cab heat...or at least not as happy as you should be with a tractor cab that costs that kind of $.

I guess the truth is that no matter how much you like the cab of the tractor when you sit in it at the dealer, you will have to run it for a while to see if it meets all your needs.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I have a DK65 cab similar to the one posted above. I got it to reduce the risk of getting skin cancer again, but I really love it. I can work in any conditions, love the A.C. and the lighting. The only down side I can see is that I have to clean the glass because I store it under an open shed, and the pollen/dust gets on it after a while, (but it does have windshield washer and wiper, front and back!).....well, also, you can't hear your implements if you're running the radio loud! Seriously, when using my 15' cutter, I put the rear view mirror down to monitor the 3 drive shafts to see if the slip clutches are smoking from a clog or whatever, since I couldn't hear the squeal of the slipping clutch in all likelihood in the cab.

Having said that, the back window can be left open, there is a hatch on the top for access/escape/sunroof, and the doors are absolutely perfectly sealing with a prop to hold them open just a little in case the AC were to fail, I guess.

I've always liked to be out in the open, but now the glass cuts down the UV rays to nearly nothing, and I don't have to put sunscreen/hat/sunglasses and get covered with dust. I suspect I'm not the only one that has had the skin problem that has spent hours out in the sun cutting fields.

I have had to replace the door twice and a rear side window once due to my error. Both times I was able to order the glass and rubber trim from hill country tractor in bourne and it was a breaze to replace the glass. I also found that you sometimes can reuse the weather strip. I am 56 yrs old and it really is a well engineered glass system which makes assembly very user friendly. No special tools or glue needed. Next time you might consider doing it at the site as it could save some money.

Thanks for all of the replies. I should let you all know that I did get the Kioti DK45S with cab. I have been very pleased so far. It was just like everyone said it would be. Thanks again. :)

Thanks DrRick. I thought that it looked pretty easy to replace, but I was afraid that the dealer (Rivera in Donna) might know something that I didn't since they would not install the replacement glass that I bought from them. Hopefully I am smart enough now that I won't need to buy any more cab glass (but probably not). I'll give installation a try next time. Thanks again.
