Kioti 2485 backhoe retaining pins

I was operating my DK 50 with my 2485 bh today in some rough terrain . I broke the tip off one of the retaining pins loosing the snap clip.( pin broke at the hole). The other pins snap clip fell out. I know the snap clips retain the pins but it seems that the pins would be impossible to fall out without the clips. By leaving out the clips it may allow the pin to move so it does not break. Does any one operate with out the snap clips and ever have a problem? It seems the the pins are hard and briitle. I went to tractor supply and picked up a grade 8 3/4" bolt as a replacement. The only problem is the grade 8 bolt is .040 smaller. What do you think?

I don't use the keeper clips, I probably should but have had no trouble not using them.

The grade eight bolts is a good idea, You could either have them turned on a lathe to fit the hole or make the hole bigger.

The grade 8 is .040 smaller. Anyway, I operated all day in rough terrain without the clips and all is fine. Thanks

My pins are a slightly sloppy fit so I would think .040 wouldn't make a difference.

If you are talking about the pins that keep BH frame into the tractor sub frame, not a problem at all.

On my BH, while driving over rough terrain, the hinge/swivel pin's retaining bolt sheared off and the swivel pin dropped clear through the hinge. In turn, the bottom hinge came apart and sheared the left slew cylinder at the knuckle. When restoring, I had two hinge pins made, same dia but with a top hat, so even if the lower retaining bolt breaks, the pin stays put.
