Ok Guy's ,I need your help .
I was digging out a good size oak stump with my backhoe . After I had dug a trench around the stump it was very loose .
I had left the stump about 3 feet tall so I could grab the top and use it for levage as I pulled it over . As I pulled the stump towards me the boom went pass center and pass the hyd ram stops and locked straight up ! The stump was laying on it's side in the bottom of the hole and not against anything .The dipper stick ram was against the back of the level control panel! It would not break back over and let the boom arm go down . The boom ram acted like it was in hdy. lock of some sort . After looking and finding nothing broke or damaged that I could tell ,I hooked a winch cable around the bucket . As I put down pressure on the boom control my friend pulled the winch cable in and the boom broke back over center . The atv winch is only a 1500 lb and the atv weights only 700 pounds . It took hardly any effort to pull the boom back over to it's proper place . It seems to be working fine now . There are no breaks or leaks that I can tell and I have not notice any loss of hyd strenght. The pins are not bent . It did appear that I had air in the boom ram as it bounced when I put it in the travel position to move the tractor . I noticed that the boom ram is now bleeding off a little bit when I am using the FEL . I was able to extend and retract the boom ram to its stops ,thinking this would chase out any air in the ram . I have a total of 2 hours on the backhoe .Any idea what is causing the boom to leak down ? It was not doing this before .
No matter what ,I will be welding a set of extensions on the original boom stops on the boom so this can not happen again . I have ran hoes for 25 years and never had this happen . Anyone ever encounter this before ?
