I've cut plenty of 2" stuff.. mostly sweet gum sapplings.. Had a whole stand of thim in some areas... Cheapy KK had no problems with them, and was powered by a NH 1920 at the time.

Guess it is just hit or miss. Sometimes you get a weak one sometimes not.

I caught the edge of my 72" KK and it twisted the 3" vertical tubing like nothing.. I had to cut the whole thing apart and put in a new piece(of tubing twice as thick)

Those sweet gums are an aggravating bunch. Dig one up and you better not leave a root bigger than a pencil or more will take his place. I pushed up a pile of freshly uprooted ones and the tops got covered by a little dirt. Came back from work 6wks later and there were a 100 sprouts popped up from that dirt. Like a horror movie. I laughed the other day walking through Lowes- they were actually selling 2gal sweet gum for $12 a piece. People will buy anything.

Hi Jim, sorry to see your blade cracked. I too have busted a bunch of stuff over the years but my KK stuff has held up well. I've owned 4 & 5 foot cutters and 5 and 6 foot box blades. Both held up really well to the punishment I gave them. I was mowing off prickly ash with the cutters (lots of that crap in WI) and did all of my site leveling and cutting with a box blade. Rolled out quite a few basketball sized stones with those box blade teeth. I really like the cutter sides, they are made from bent I steel. I haven't bent one of those yet. Tried a couple of the other cheaper $499 brands and the side steel folded right over like it was cardboard. Really made some racket when the blades came around and smacked into the folded over side steel. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifGuess I've been happy with the KK stuff so far, haven't owned any grader blades though. I will be sure to check those over before I buy any of those.

Yep.. and you can buy 'juevinile' trees that atr 10-15' tall and 3-4" around from the nurseries for 150$.. go figure.

i had a stand of about 4 trees when i got this property.. small 4" ones. I pushed them down with the tractor and disced the smitherines out of everything. I know have about a 30 x 60 stand.. must have 50 1-1.5-2" trees there now. I gave up and am letting that batch grow.. as future 'shade' for the horses... Also.. I figure if I cut them again.. they'll come back twice as strong.

I'll send you down some Sumac trees. They spread like crazy weeds up here and sprout in 2 weeks time after cutting them off.

Who makes a good rear blade? I used a neighbor's KK blade last winter and spend much more time fixing it than using it. Simply catching the expansion joints in my concrete driveway demolished the blade. I welded up where it broke and went out again. This time it folded up in a different spot. I gave up and passed KK products off as cheap junk or for use with a garden tractor. Who makes a good strong rear blade?

Had to go out and look...see if MY blade was still out in the field. That looks EXACTLY like mine. broke in the same place and everything.

Guess it's just time for a new tool (arc welder)!

Looks like it tore/cracked right in the seam of where the pipe, become pipe,,there is seamless pipe,,expensive,,and pipe with a seam,,,looks like it happened in the seam, could have been a void in edge cut at seam or a nick, but most likely a poor seam, not fused properly,,,it could have been engineered with this in mind, edges of cut could have been reinforced in some manner,,,,,,engineering/ desighn mistake,,,,if it was a car,,,you would have one of those recalls,,,,no recalls for tractor light duty blades,,,but king kutter should make these situations right,,,anybody contacted them,,,I always found them very friendly and helpfull,,,,thingy
