While I was driving thru my local Tractor Supply lot last night on patrol, I discovered a very lightly used 6' King Kutter Brush Hog in the "discount" area, it was originally $989 and it is marked down to $500. I think its time to replace my 1060's hog I have now :D

Has anyone had any neg exp with a KK Hog? I have severasl of there other implaments and they work fine.

A KK 6 foot is a great mower ... I have one I've only used a few years before I switched over to a 7 foot LandPride finish mower.
500 is a very good price. KennyV.

Earlier this year I was in the market for a used 5ft mower and went to look at a 5ft KK mower nearby that was listed on CL. It looked to be in good shape, but since it was hooked up to a kubota, I asked the owner to spin it up so I could see and hear it running. Well, once it got up to speed, I thought it was gonna fly apart! It was VERY noisy, not sure what was causing it but I didn't really care because I thanked the owner and left.

So, if I were you, I would take your tractor there and hook it up IF they will let you. Or, at least buy it with a 30 day return policy so you can see if it has any vibration or how loud it might be. Since that one is really marked down, it would just make me suspicious. Maybe there was a problem with it and that's why it was returned?? I think the older ones were made in the states, but now they are pretty much made in China so no telling what you might get with them. Good luck!

I,ve got a 5 foot KK BH & I,ve really abused it , but not intentionally . The only time It was noisy or vibrating was when I unexpectantly was rollin up about 500 foot of barb wire underneath it . it was a pain to get out, but was just like new afterwards .

I also hit a big steel oil pipeline valve that was partially buryed & it did no damage as well .

500 bucks is a good price for a 6 footer IMO . Bob

I have a 6 foot KK bush hog and I use it with my L4400 Kubota and it does a good job. Kebo the 5 foot unit that you looked at may have had the blade folded back under the stump jumper when it was stored away and it needed to be pulled out so it was balanced. I have used mine for several years and it works great. I just changed the gear oil in the gear box and that was a pain because it doesnt have a plug in the bottom and I had to take the FEL and turn it up on its side and drain the oil out, good thing that is not something you have to do very often. I dont know if other brands are that way or not.

I just bought a 5' KK BH this past weekend and was very pleased with it. I kinda wish now I had gotten the 6' though, the 5 footer is about a foot narrower than my JD 4120. I just didn't think I would need that big of a cut. Being pretty new to the PTO world, it only took me about an hour to put it together, fill with oil and hook up to the tractor. I was really surprised to see just how big of a bush (or tree) that thing would eat. I have about a 3 acre field that has not been mowed or bush hogged in several years and had grown up alot. If I can push it over, that BH will hack it up. I paid $725 with tax and all. $500 sounds like a deal.

My Frontier is. Yeah, what a pain!

Bought a used 4' KK for about $500. When I first tried it, the thing rattled like heck when it spun up. $40 in blades later, it works fine w/o any rattle.

I know my KK 4' will occasionally start up and sound and act "like it was gonna fly apart". Must be a blade folded back. If I stop and restart it all is good. I think rust on the pivots or grass wedged in there can cause it.
Looking at a used one I'd check underneath and see if the blades swing free. I'd also spin the gearbox by hand and feel for roughness, check for milky oil etc.
