king kutter brush hog - cut shaft?

I just bought a 5' king kutter at Tractor Supply for my b7800. It is the base model that sells for about $600. I was wondering if anybody else has any experience with the same setup & can tell me if they had to cut the driveshaft on it to make it work. I had a chance to read through the directions, but I haven't had a chance to put it together.

twodogs, I wouldn't take a chance, it takes only a few minutes to measure the shaft, hook your implement up to the tractor, find the highest point of your travel pull the shaft apart, put the shafts on each side but not connected and take a look, find the lowest point, and look again, I try to maintain about 3" clearance at the tightest point and make sure I have about 6" overlap at the longest point

I have a 4' KK brush hog and I ran it on BX2200 for 3 years and never cut the shaft. I now have a 7510 but will check the length. I can bet that with your 7800 will not need any triming of the shaft, but I do suggest checking the length as AMR stated.

Like the other posts said, check high and low with the shaft off of the tractor and cutter and measure. I have never had to cut one yet.

I just got a new tiller and had to cut 6" off the PTO shaft so check it to be safe.

Twodog's it's no problem if you have to cut the shaft's,I had to cut the shafts on a used land pride I purchased for behind my BX.Separate the shafts while taking your measurements as stated above make sure clearance is OK if no clearance BIG trouble can be the result.If you need to cut power hack saw is great,but can be done by hand.Don't forget to shorten plastic sheilds also if present.Happy cutting, Red
