Need a new 5' or 6' finish mower and was thinking of the local TSC king cutter. I'm having a hard time justifying the big $ for a woods or landpride. I don't do a lot of mowing with it but it's a bit rougher than a lawn (orchard & berry patch) and want a mower that will stand up to moderate use. Any opinions on king cutter?

I have had a 6' King Kutter for several years. I use it to mow about 8 acres of pasture & fields. Overall it has been OK, I have had to do some welding where the wheels attach to the deck and on the 3 point frame. The tires on mine had tubes and have been a pain, get solid ones if you can. Also, the yoke that is around the tires was not made properly and as a result, the tires would rub against the yoke. I think they have changed the mowers since I got mine, hopefully they have fixed some of these issues.

I have the TSC Countyline 6' Finish mower. In the book it states it is strictly for "grass" and may somehow void your warranty depending on what you mow with it. However, what you don't tell them they won't know. Also, if the grass is high and thick you may want to consider bush hogging it first. We moved to our property last May and the previous owner didn't mow all of the four acres. There were areas that would bog down the mower, but after bush hogging it the mower handles it just fine now.
Based on what vulcancowboy said I believe they have made changes on the yokes as I have no problem with tire rub and I have the solid rubber tires.
That being said, I'm happy with mine.

Thanks guys. I guess TSCs new brand is County Line and not KK. Not sure the differences between the two. Are spindles and idlers on those mowers all greasable? And I assume ball bearings not beveled roller bearings for the spindles?

Some Countyline equipment is King Kutter rebranded and some of it is Tarter rebranded. I think part of that depends on what part of the country you are in.

Bought a Phoenix 6' rear discharge mower 2 years ago. Holding up well and gives a nice cut. :) I don't know about KK but if it isn't rear discharge I'm not interested. The rear discharge under deck stays cleaner. Cleaner means less grass clumping on the deck and less rust. Order a second set of blades at time of purchase, I'm glad I did.

I found a used King Kutter 6' rear discharge finish mower for $800, locally on craigslist. Needed a few welds repaired, but that was nothing. Craiglist is definitely your friend here.
