My bride ordered a new Kindle for me and thus far, I enjoy it.... I have downloaded books from Gutenburg. org and have no problem reading them on my Kindle. I just ordered, from Amazon, John Grisham's new book that sells for $28 in the stores and paid $10 for it. More than half price the retail. That ain't bad.
A friend of mine owns 3 or 4 different ereaders and reports that while each one has an advantage over the others, she says that her Kindle wins the contest hands down. Good luck with whatever you decide.
