Kinda cool

I work with this young man that a couple of years back got into trouble with the law......(was lookin at 13 plus years in jail). He kinda likes to come over and just tinker around in the small shop that I have. I bought this Ford 1710 tractor a few months back and hes been hounding me to come over and drive the thing. Well its finally warmed up and I had a dirt pile out back and I said to come over and give the tractor a spin. He spent 4 hours on the thing and LOVED doin the work :thumbsup:. He'd never done anything like that before.....and said "I feel like a redneck".......LOL. He liked it soooo much he even said "Id trade my quad for one of these".

My post wasn't about the Ford tractor but about how a kid seen a whole different life today just playin in the dirt with a tractor. He had a grin from ear to ear for several hours and wants to know when Im gonna start on clearin out the tree row.

We had a few beers when done and he really opened up...........Maybe a life changing is in the future for this young man due to an old tractor.

That is a really neat story.You and not just the tractor may be the catylist of change for him.

Love this story. Sounds like this kid deserves another chance to do good things with his life. :thumbsup: to you for taking the time to invest in this young man's life. You have no idea how much a mentor means to a younger person.

I work at the County Sheriff's office and have 5 state inmates that work for me. They're the same way...they just like to talk and feel like someone is interested in what they have to say. Sometimes they just sit in my office and talk and I hardly say anything back. Henton, it's good that you have made a positive impact in this mans life. You and the tractor may have changed the course of his life. Maybe the Lord is using you as his angel to steer this mans life in a positive direction.

Congrats...great to read a positive story. Major controversy going on up here regarding money for jails or money for rehab/education/training. I'm for the latter, since the former trains them the wrong way.

Improve the justice system sufficiently to keep the really bad guys inside, and the ones that can and want to change - the opportunity to do so.:thumbsup:
