Kerfuffle in Washington State

Dragoneggs, or indeed, anyone else from the State of Washington... would you be so kind as to explain to me what's transpiring in your rural communities?

Well, H*ll, I'd seen this story but just now read it. I'd like to say its due to a phase of the moon - lunacy - but it could also be some displaced Californians. Manson has become a very popular recreational spot on a large lake - Lk Chelan.

The entire situation sounds like some kind of lead in to a twisted Alfred Hitchcock story. Unfortunately, Manson is about 125 miles West of me - its getting just a little too close.

Beyond that - your guess is as good as mine. Sure doesn't speak well of the human strain - does it.

It had to be some urban transplant. If you can't recognize a dead raccoon at 50 ft. you really need to get out more. Also, urbanoids are convinced guns are for shooting people. Heck, I can tell the difference between road kill raccoon and 'yote at 70 mph on the freeway.

I'm just glad I live way out on a quiet rural lane. This week in Klamath Falls, a guy broke into a house and tried to steal a child. The mother struggled with him, so he stabbed her and ran off with the 13 month old baby. The police then got a call that the guy was on the roof of a 3-storey building holding the child. The police managed to talk him down. The baby is fine, mom is getting medical treatment, and the guy is in jail. Understand that K-Falls is a small town of only 20,000 people. That's even crazier than shooting a guy for trying to salvage a road killed raccoon for crawdad bait.
