It's funny, I know many guys that would like deer running in there back yard, they spend big bucks (no pun intended) to plant food plots ext for the deer and you guys and gals are mad they get in your garden/ yard which I can understand.
As far as hunting goes, I hunted for years religiously, I was an avid hunter, I used to go to archery competitions, trap and gun shoots ext all to sharpen my hunting skills.
Long story short my hunting ground was shrunk and some sold to a boarder crazy guy with 1500 deer cams, another plot was given to the state and 15 acres of that was turned into a nature preserve which gave permission to 6 hunters! that shoot anything that moves.
Instead of 130 acres of ground backed by 200 acres of state ground, that shrunk to 30 acres of private ground surrounded by state ground saturated with guys shorting anything and everything, it's a complete waste of time to even hunt now, the deer population in Hocking County is so low because of over hunting.
Deer aren't stupid, when hunting season comes around they hide on metro park ground where hunters aren't aloud to hunt on or they move to residential areas where again there not hunted and city folk feed them and hit them with cars.
I haven't hunted, shot a gun or bow in over 3 years, I got cattle and said piss on hunting lol.

Sorry about the little rant here guys but here's another reason: people are nuts, lots of city folks think your a horrible person for shooting Bambi and fight for shorter hunting seasons and to strip gun rights from people, on the other hand there is lots of guys out there that brag about how many deer they shoot every year and just don't give a sh*t about controlling herd populations and over hunt small herds of deer.
I just get frustrated because my family has managed the heard on the hill we hunted since the 80’s, we closely monitored the herd and gave them a chance to keep there numbers healthy and within 2 years that heard was pretty much wiped out to the point there's no point in hunting there now.
There's nothing the game wardens can do, they monitor the county wide population and adjust seasons according to there records, they have been adding weekend seasons, extending seasons ext last few years but unless people take the time to locally manage herds we will always have areas of over hunted herds and areas of over populated herds.

Deer are nimble, they can clear a 6ft fence without damaging it, there pretty smart, so keeping them out of a garden can be tricky. There goal is to find good forages and your goal is to keep them out of your vegetables.
I would go the electric fence route, you can try diff tricks but they over time will ignore them. FYI deer hate things that are moved or move themselves, one way is to constantly change up the environment, keep them on there toes. Deer hate decoys, put a decoy out there, spray some buck piss sent on the grass and they will go 15 feet from it and run away, grunting and snort wheezing to warn the others of the threat, when they stomp and the decoy doesn't move it drives them nuts and they instantly see it as a threat, if you moved a decoy around daily I would be surprised if they came close to it.
I tried a decoy a few times and that was the result, I actually used a bow target (river bottom buck), the deer hated it lol. Sucked for hunting but was really neat to observe sitting in a stand.
