Where would a good place to attach the plus side of a low current battery charger to keep the battery charged over the winter? LS has a plastic cover over the + terminal which complicates directly attaching to the + side of the battery(LS4040h). Ground is easy.

Bring out a set of two prong trailer connectors or Anderson powerpoles. Safe, good connections and will come undone if you forget and drive off without disconnecting.

That cover over the + terminal is removable. Just lift it up and attach the alligator clip to the + terminal.

get yourself some "quick disconnects for the battery" there are a variety out there. ya may have to hunt some, for a type that will fit your machine better.

you could always wire in a red/black cables directly to the battery terminals (may need to get new ends for battery cables), and get yourself a generic plug. many battery tenders out there. come with 2 pig tails, one with alligator clips, and another for sticking it into a cigarette lighter outlet on a vehicle. cut the ends off one of the pig tails and just permentally wire it in. and use some zip ties to hold it in place.

And some pigtails come with rings to be permanently attached to the battery. You just disconnect the pigtail and drive off. Hook it back up when you are done. In fact TSC has some on sale for $19.99.

They also have extra ring pig tails for $3.99

I had that charger and it was warranted for 24 months and lasted 25 months. When I looked it up on Amazon, a lot of people had the same experience. :(

That's how my charger is I connected one to the battery the other to a ground and left the plug end coming out under hood.

Those battery terminal covers almost always flip up out of the way very easily. Some of the plastic ones even have a little hinge molded in. It's not something that should be an issue. Cars have had terminal covers like this for years.

I've added charging pigtails to my vet and ZTR, no issues but this tractor has a computer and fuse blocks in the way. When the plastic cap is lifted there is very little spacing to get a tool in to loosen the + terminal and a high chance of shorting( unless I remove the - but it would still be very tight working area). Would have to remove the computer etc. to get to the terminal. Is there a wire or unused fuse available that could be used? The manual is not helpful. thanks.

Battery Tenders come with a harness that is quick disconnect via an SAE connector. You can usually put the ring terminal under the attachment bolt. I have them on motorcycles, snowmobile, tractor, etc.
