Keep the truck or bushhog in the barn?

I've only got room to keep either my truck (92 Chevy in pretty decent shape) or my bushhog (MD172 bought at an auction but still in decent shape) in the barn. I guess the truck is worth around $2K or so and the bushhog is worth $500 or so, sooooo is it a no brainer put the truck in and leave the hog out?

I kind of liked having the hog in the barn as I've got a concrete floor and I've got the hog on movers dollys making the 3 point attachment a breeze.

All I can say is my tractor and all impliments are inside and my wife's car and my truck sit outside in the driveway.

Some day I'll have the space for everything inside. Some day.

The sun won't do much damage to the bush hog. If you are worried about the paint fading then cover it with a tarp. Just wish my 60ft quanset hut was closer to the house (and empty) so I could store my tractor in it.

Most bushogs will collect rain water and snow on the deck if left outside. If this allowed to happen it WILL rust to the point of failure. If you can be meticulous about keeping the hog painted and rust free then I would say leave it outside and keep the truck in; otherwise the opposite.

Hey Scott,

This bush hog has sat outside since 1988, I have once
roughed up the top and touched up the paint, as you see
I have a couple spots to get again. I did pull the drive shaft for winter time, I change the gear lube in the spring and fall and grease her up good in the fall.

In the spring I'll give her a quick shot of grease and then I start her up running behind a tractor, I run it lightly and then I give all the zerts another shot of grease while they are warmed up.

That is the same time I change the lube with it warm. These decks have stronger thicker metal than your truck and are made to sit outside. I have the rear sitting higher for drainage also. Hope this helps.

Its cheap and easy to make a v shaped roof made of tarp for bushhog just to shed the snow and rain off. no need to cover the ends so it will dry out any consedation better. Then you can keep truck in barn

I have similar dilema. I will design a dolly that attaches to three point so the bush hog sits horizontally and takes less space in the garage. Just need to modify the GB vent so oil wouldn't leak out.

All my implements stay outside... i'd keep the truck inside. after 10ys outside.. the brushhog won't be hurt too bad.. and the truck will be junk. ( hey wait a minute.. it's already a chevy so... )

I agree with Truck in the Barn and Hog out. Tarp for the Hog if you're worried about rain.
