Just thought I'd share with those that don't know about Kroil. It's one of the best products I've ever used. I believe it's strictly a word of mouth product so if you've never heard of it here goes.
I tried it the first time about 15 years ago. I saw a cheap little black and white ad in the back of some magazine that raved about "The oil that creeps". It was a stupid looking add but I was restoring an old car at the time that had all kinds of frozen nuts and bolts. The add said that kroil would unstick anything. Well my wife sent away and bought a couple gallons of their product and it did exactly what they advertised. This stuff is amazing.
Since then I've used it on my guns, especially muzzle loaders, and unlike WD40 it doesn't get gummy after long periods of time.
Well I've begun a new hobby of restoring old gas pumps and I was just about out of the stuff but had no idea how to get a hold of them again. I did a search and came up with their web site, http://www.kanolabs.com/. They have a lot of new products now and since the original Kroil was so good I decided to try some of their other products. A case of stuff just arrived and everything I've tried so far works great.
I've never seen it in any stores, and only people that restore old stuff or shooters seem to know about it so I thought I'd share with all of you.
I'm presently taking apart a gas pump that was assembled 60 years ago and has sat outside rusting ever since. Out of maybe 40 or 50 bolts that were rusted and stuck so tight they were ready to break, this stuff salvaged all but two 8-32 screws. By the way, someone recently asked about lubing 3 point joints and I used one of their products called silikroil and it seems to be just what the doctor ordered. The joints stay dry but theirs a film of silicone left that continues to lubricate. I got a can of spray Silikroil for free when I bought a gallon of their other stuff.
Just thought I'd pass it on.

My father has an old container of Kano oil in his garage - I'll be sure to ask him about it. Thanks, hess.

You can get smaller cans of Kroil now at gun shows and I've even seen it at a few gun shops. I think it's a great product as well. I use it because at some time in the past it was recommended to me by a police armorer because he had found nothing better. He bought it by the gallon, but unless you REALLY like the stuff, an 8 oz can will last a long long time. Kind of a funky smell though /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Gary, I sure agree with you about Kroil. Speaking of availability, I was in a NAPA autoparts store last summer and noticed they carry it. I immediately bought some. I've been in several times since and I always check to make sure they still carry it. It's always been in stock. Good luck.
