Kangaroo on the Loose Near Indiana Airport

Daedong.... I would say it is just the DNR reestablishing the wild Roo population here....which once roamed wild with the buffalo. They were successful with grouse, deer, and turkey...why not the Roo? It could have been some of the deer that have learned to walk over our garden fences around here as well.

Of course, Indiana is a screwed up state you know. South Bend is up north, North Vernon is down south, and French Lick is nothing like I thought it would be.

Vin,

You came to the states and left us a present. How thoughtful of you. Next time though just bring your wife. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

About a mile from where I sit right now (work). I'll keep my eyes peeled though it's hard to see through these block walls /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That roo was spotted in an industrial area that use to be fields where I roamed as a child. The industrial park never took off like they expected and there are lots of wooded and brushy lots for it to hide in. Lots of deer in there, too. I'd like to see it survive, but the area is heavily travelled, so my guess is it will meet it's end on the road, probably when some group of animal resuers is trying to catch it.

Several years ago, we had a large wallaby escape the zoo and it was a circus to catch it.

Then, about two or three years ago, some stray dogs got into the zoo and killed about a dozen wallabies. Only one survived. We just got new ones last year and several have already died from unkown causes. So, the first time this report of the kangaroo came out on Monday, the zoo jumped in to report all of theirs were accounted for.

Then they said it was probably a deer walking on its hind legs. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Several people told them they know what a deer looks like and deer don't have stubby front legs and long tails. Finally, someone from animal control spotted it and confirmed it was a kangaroo... a reliable witness... looked like college student with summer job skills.

Nope. The weather report this morning said it was going to be a beautiful day, with the haze clearing by noon. At 4:30PM the sun is currently blazing away while it is pouring huge raindrops. There was also a report of a cold funnel tornado nearby the other day, too. The poor thing probably got confused with the weird Indiana weather and left the area. I don't blame it! It probably hopped up to Michigan where they kick you off the beach before the sun sets because the park closes at 10:pM. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
