I was doing some searching on the web and found this news article about Kamas from 2001 that said they were building a plant in Mexico. I wonder what became of it? I copied and pasted the article.

Kama in Mexico

WORLDBEST Kama Machinery Company in Pudong Sunqiao Agricultural Zone has invested $20 million to open a factory in Mexico, focusing on the 20-80 horsepower tractor market and other agricultural machinery. Xu Guoxiong, general manager of Worldbest Kama, said the factory will be a base for expansion into markets in the Americas. Worldbest Kama Machinery is one of four listed companies of textile firm Worldbest Group.

Worldbest KAMA is a consortium made up of several companies in China that banded together to develope products that would have appeal worldwide. You will see the KAMA name on generators, pumps, tractors, etc. I know of at least two separate plants in China that build tractors with KAMA brand name. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a plant in Mexico or even South America. Chinese tractors are very popular in many parts of the world because of low cost and ease of maintenance, come to think of it that is why they are gaining in popularity here too!.

Hey Chip ... it seems like we would have heard of their tractors coming from Mexico if they were building them there. It said the 20-80 hp tractors would be built there. Been to your website and didn't see you advertising Lenars..did you quit selling them?

If there is a KAMA plant in Mexico, perhaps they are just assembling crated units for the local market...wonder how many I need to assemble to claim a plant in Arkansas!

As for Lenar, they have made a major change in distribution and the west coast firm that has exclusive marketing rights will no longer sell direct to their dealers instead they have established regional distributors which I believe will strengthen the brand but naturally will affect pricing. I'm waiting to see what the new pricing is going to be from my distributor, especially on the series II. so basically I am on the fence. I originally started my company to sell Lenar and hope to continue after the dust settles. I am fortunate that Cooper Tractor is my distributor I've talked to them several times and they certainly seem to be the kind of people I would like to do business with.
