It's time for me to start thinking of getting stand-byes for this tractor and would like to know what kind of filters (USA) would work for the oil and fuel filters?

I got this from the dealer I got it from,"As for an oil filter,
either a NAPA 1516 or a 1085 should fit, however, it may be necessary to
unscrew the threaded pipe on the oil filter housing some so it can engage
this filter. The fuel filter will be a NAPA 3195.

Well I dont know about most but the word "SHOULD" bothers the heck out of me, I would expect to get sound info, rather than a should response. Not to mention if you go to the NAPA web site and type in #3195 they dont have anything like that listed.

I checked thru google and all I get is Jinma references and low and behold its the same info I got from the dealer, mmmm makes me wonder. So if one of you Kama owners have done it already can you please pass that info along. I probably should have put this in another part of the forum but this kinda goes with this category.

The filters are the same as used on Jinma tractors. There was a change on the treads of the oil filter on these engines several months ago and some of the filters supplied as spares with the tractors did not fit. the NAPA equivelent has the thread slightly recessed into the filter housing, turning the threaded nipple out a few turns will enable the NAPA filter to engage and seal up to the housing.

We do stock the Chinese oil filter if you prefer. We also stock the Chinese fuel filter if you cannot locate the 3195.

I recommend that you buy the Chinese ones from Chip! Screwing around with the nipple is just bad practice to me, I can get in enough trouble without "modifying" engine components, especially oil related. That is my opinion. There is a comfort level knowing that you are putting the filters made for that engine, instead of ones that "should" fit. Further more Chip is a great guy to deal with.

The point in general I'm trying to make is this. The tractor is going to our ranch shortly (VERY) rural, which means no mailing address. In other words means I cant get anything sent to me I have to be able to get it at a parts store (2 1/2 HR round trip). As far as the nipple goes I can always fabricate one if I have to at work (machine shop) that is childs play to me.

If you go to the NAPA site http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/homepage.d2w/report and type in #3195 it refers to something else totally. I have gone thru every fuel filter they have in there and there's none listed by that #. I just needed the USA equivelant so I could go get it because like I stated I have to be able to get it myself. kinda like the fuses box that comes with it, they got some rather funny fuses and I'm going to change it out so I can just run to the parts store and get a replacement when the time comes rather than have to worry about how I'm going to replace it with a factory fuse. It boils down to (ease) of ownership.

3195 is correct, I have several on the shelf NAPA Gold 3195 fuel filter. Don't know why it will not come up on thier site.
The nipple is just a straight thread and is usually threaded too far into the filter housing for the cartridge to thread on. You just need to turn it out a few threads, there are notched in it for a wide blade to turn it like a screw driver.

Hi..Just a note about your "funny"fuses..If you have the Chinese wire wrapped fuse actually they are very handy. The spare fuse wire is already there.Just pull the blade apart and take some of the extra fuse material and stretch it accross the blades. I had to study them a while to figure them out. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

.....until it comes down to the day you walk into the parts store and see the blank stares when you ask for fuse wire. I know, I've been looking. If you can point towards 3a 10a and 30a replacement fuse wire, believe me when I say you'd make me a much happier KAMA owner.

I actually like the FUSE wire, yep finding SOME would be a pain, but keeping a small sectional wire chunk and then using a MIC can tell you the dia and then pick up some at the local box store for electrical & wiring, (I have access to tons of wire, as I do electrical work for a living.) they MAYBE not be exactly same rating as that china stuff but close enough by wire size... copper vs silver is copper carries abit less amps but has a higher metling temp. so should be a trade off.

I have bought 4 fuse Buss type fuse blocks at Tractor Supply and installed them on Yanmars to replace the wire type fuse blocks.

Me too. Simple job, as fuse block is under cowling. Not so on this KAMA. It's external to the cowl, on a metal panel below the steering wheel. I'd rather continue hunting for fuse wire, than start tearing up sheet metal to accomodate an external aftermarket fuse block. Putting one in an accessible place under the cowl is not an option either, due to the routing of the wiring harness.

Thought (briefly) that Maxi-Blades were going to work. Only took one $3.00 Maxi though, to quickly demonstrate they're not compatible either.

in a pinch you can always take one of the cheap old round type fuse holders and stick the wires under each side of the terminal and stick the INLINE fuse then across the terminals. this is cheap and quick fix if not slightly (insert not so potically correct statement here) ...: /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I take it you've never seen a KAMA fuse box. The reason Maxi-Blades aren't compatible, is that their blades aren't nearly thick enough. Even a 30a rated inline holder with its 10ga wire would fall right out.

Greg:

true I have not seen aKAMA fuse box, if it is anything like the JINMAs then the Wires are attached on one side is HOT the other side is FUSED to hot. these WIRES are attached to the PLASTIC FUSE block on each side by a SCREW TERMINAL with FORKED WIRE TERMINAL under the SCREWS. what I was saying is take a NEW IN-LINE fuse and add a FORK TERMNINAL to EACH side of the IN-LINE fuse, then just slip the IN-LINE fuse wire terminals UNDER the fuse block's SCREWS. then you have an IN-LINE FUSE over the top of the fuse box but the wires are now protected by a RATED fuse...

I would think the KAMA has a similar set up as the jinmas as the china tractors seem to all pretty much have nearly identical parts. but like I stated above I'm not seen a KAMA other than photos on net.

We entertained designing a replacement fues box, however the factory wire wrapped fuse box is neatly installed in the panel just below the dash, accessable, and visible, from the operators seat. There is no easy way to switch this out and maintain a proper cosmetic appearance, at least with any commercially available fuse block I have looked at and as greg said, the location and wire lengths leave little room for relocation. I like the current location personally.

I have requested quotes from several sources for replacement wire for the standard fuses, it is just a matter of determining the thickness and material for each amp rating necessary. and we do stock replacement fuses for the factory box. Personally, I like the in-the-field servicability that the wire fuse affords.

To date, we have not had many complaints about the wire fuses, but will remain open to coming up with some type of improvment in this area, be it avaiability of wire at a minimum to aredesigned fuse block (and dash).

AS for the wire wrapped fuses- I have a supply comming of pre packaged 5,15 and 30 amp fuse wire. about 1 ft.per package. I'll post again when I receive them.with cost.should be by Aug.9th
I'm working on 3 & 10 amp too /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I found the same as you, a card of 5/15/30. Cheaper than dirt. Unfortunately, I'm looking for 3/10/30
