Hello Tractor People

Most the replies to my previous post added suggestions to change all the fluids. I would like to be prepared for this the day my tractor arrives.

(A) How muc and what type Engine Oil should I get?
(B) How much and what type Hydraulic Fluid should I get? I ordered a Koyker 160 along with a Pirannha Grapple, will this require more fluid?
(C) How much and what type Gear oil will I need for various drive assemblied?
(D) What Filters should I request for regular Maint?
(E) I read something about flushing Hydraulic system with Diesel Fuel. I plan on draining out my fuel system upon delivery, is the old fuel "Clean" enough to be used to flush out hydraulic system?

I would appreciate any other suggestions such as adjustments.

Thanks in advance!

Tim

Hey Tim,

You had a good thread allready started, but since you started a new one, we'll jump over to this one.

1st suggestion, is to go over to NYCTO Forum Here: http://nortrac.proboards26.com/index.cgi

There is a section at that forum for Kama's, where TBN, clumps all Chinese Tractors together. It is also an Owners forum, so you might find that site very useful.

2nd suggestion, is to fill out your profile, showing which region of the planet that you reside, which may have a bearing on viscosities or fluids recommended.

This is what I use and do with my Jinma 224, which is smaller than your tractor, and also bear in mind that I live on the Southern Coast, where it is Hot and winters are very mild.

a. Shell Rotella T 15w40--4 qts.

b. WalMarts Super Tech Transmission/Hydraulic Tractor oil--Not all Walmarts carry the Tractor Oils. 2 gals--no front end loader.

C.Walmart Super Tech 85w140 gear oil-- most use 80w90 though. Tranmission and Front Drive--- don't remember exactly how much, but I would have at least 5 gallons on hand, and that might not be enough, but should be close for my tractor.

D. I got several OEM, Fuel-Oil-Air Filters, I don't even consider cross over filters, unless I can't get OEM filters.

E. You should filter any old fuel, before introducing it into your hydraulic system. As far as flushing, I did, however, I did not operate the diesel fuel through the pump, just poured it in and let it out. However, with a front end loader, I have read, that they are notorious for haveing loose metal and other things, that need to be flushed out, so that they cannot stop up the different valves and/or harm your pump.

Even though some or most of the owners manuals are hard to read, I still suggest reading and trying to decipher what it is saying and try to get some useable knowledge from it, in an effort to keep your tractor in tip top running condition.

Now this is where Mr Fixit, ,may come into Play, on things like this:

On my first day, I had to adjust the Clutch Safty Starter lockout switch, so that my starter would engage. I had to replace a 10amp fuse with a 30 amp fuse so that the glow plug circuit would work. My horn stopped working, so replaced with a new one. Little things like that, that I'm sure Mr Fixit is up to the task to fix.

Hope this helps,
Have a nice day,
Joe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
