Kabota rtv 900 hour gage problem

I have a 2013 Rtv 900xt and the hours gage jumped from 44 to 91 hrs after taken it trail riding and through some water in a creek. Does anyone have an idea as to how the gage would change just by driving the Rtv in mud and water? Thanks

Are you sure that was when it ran the hours up? They are notorious for continuing to run when the key is almost, but not quite off. My wife and I were told by our dealer to remove the key and toss it in a cup holder every time we stop. Right now I am on my third hour meter but need to remember to subtract 83 hours from the true reading as I let a neighbor use it and he left the key on just a little bit. Can't remember how I came up with 83 hours being added on while it was stopped but I felt confident of the number. I first ran into the problem at the dealership. My wife and I test drove it, liked it, signed the papers but wanted a roof and glass windshield installed. It had 2 hours on the meter. One week later I was at the dealership and saw it now had 99 hours. I commented on it and it had its first new meter when it was delivered.

This has happened to me a couple of times with machines at dealership. They maybe turned key for some reason and didn't turn it back off and many hours were added to my equipment.

I was notorious for hitting the key with my knee when I got out of my RTV. I made it a habit to take the key out on any equipment now so I don't run up the hours by accident.
