Kabota l2050

Put new battery and cables on my kabota l2050. It turns over but a small wire connected to the negative side of the battery gets extremely hot and starts to smoke and smolder. Any thoughts?

Are you sure it’s connected to the right posts?

Where does the small wire go?

I took it off from rhe negative and tried the positive but when I did that the motor or starter will do absolutely nothing. I guess I need to trace the wire?

It's been sitting for 4 years and I just put a new battery it with new cables. It is my mom's and is complete disarray.

Ton of folks on here more knowledgeable than me, maybe try pics or posting more info? Was it working the day it was parked? wiring was an issue with my l2850, until I replaced the entire lower harness, they used fusible links only thing I have to say about that is you burn the wire link out don't replace it with a heavier gauge wire, anyways If it's an older Kubota like mine they also used to have a battery electrolyte probe inserted into one of the capped cells, wired to a battery idiot light on dash. Ive left it disconnected for years on my old tractors they start and run fine. Good luck.
