I have been talking to my local CaseIH dealer about a JX55 2wd. He quoted me $17,400. There is another dealer about 80 minutes away who quoted me $15,500, for the same tractor. The Closest NH dealer is about 45 minutes away. What is in the NH line-up that is comparable to the JX55? I really don't need 4wd, but I am not opposed to it either, except for the price tag. My minimum PTO requirement is 40, and I plan on putting a FEL next summer. I could only get the tractor approved by the CFO (IE wife) for this year. So I'll add on next year. What are your thoughts on the Case prices? And any recommendations on a NH? Thanks.

There is not a NH equivalent to the JX.

Are you getting rear remotes and what size tires?

Kubota has two equivalent tractors, the MX5000 and the M4800 that you might want to look at, too.

It doesn't matter what sized tractor you buy, it will work much better with the FEL if you have 4WD. If you plan to add the FEL later, you should get MFWD today. You'll never regret it. If you buy used, you might find a deal you can't pass up, but if you buy new, you might as well get the tractor configured exactly as you'll need it. Also consider this argument for the CFO. You will pay much more for a FEL that is put on later than one that is bought now, at the time of purchasing the tractor. I'd really suggest you get that FEL now and try to find a creative way to finance it. You'll find more uses for that FEL than you can shake a stick at. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i havent looked at specs or anything but i think a jx series is probably a ton heavier than the mx5000 or m4800.

those prices sound pretty good, especially the lower one. those are very heavy duty tractors.
