I had 4 of the FJ 40's they were great , two of them I did the smallblock conversion. They are bringing BIG money now

I've got a steel body. A fiberglass body. A Chevy straight 6 in now. Coulda hada V8! It a project waiting for my kids to get in college so I have some time. Couple more years.

That sounds like a great project Moss.

You know the TBN rule - we'll need pics (of the build) for sure !

When I started it, pictures were taken on film... you know, that thin plastic strip stuff in those funny old cameras. hahahha

Seriously, though, I bought it in the early 80's, played with it for a few years, put the chevy 6 in it from my old Nova, took it apart and had the frame and body acid dipped in mid 1985, got married in 1985, and there its sat ever since. Didn't get much of the body back, so bought a fiberglass body. Life came at me pretty fast, priorities change, wife, house, tree farm, kids, etc.... wouldn't trade those things for anything! Still having fun. Just no time for that project until youngest goes off to college in fall of 2016. Something to look forward to playing with uninterrupted. ;)

When you took those old pics in the garage, did you have to sprinkle gunpowder on that T handled thing for a flash ? :D JK, I remember those trucks well, from the day.

That paragraph is a great preamble for your future thread.

I've often observed the accuracy of "Life is what happens, while you are busy making other plans". :)

My plans got interrupted again today.... by sunshine! Took the canoe out in the back of my '93 Suburban (love that body style) and paddled a couple miles, caught a few small fish, saw lots of wildlife, discussed grad school financing with oldest child, had a cow, went home and made dinner.

Sounds like you should have had an AED on standby for that conversation !

Fair is fair - if you finance school, then the kids should finance the FJ - Makes sense, No ?

Saw this tricked out GM sitting at a dealer in Somerset, KY the other day. Someone put some bucks into this puppy. The tires were like super single size. It was raining so I did not feel like getting out of my car to get some better pics. The front end was set up pre-runner style. I always liked the concept when GM made these though i felt the weight ratings were a little wimpy.

Nice! Probably kept weight rating low so CDL is not required.
