Ok guys, here is what I just purchased. It has been almost 2 years since I started my search, but I've finally decided on the John Deere 5000 Series. It is a Model 5055D 55 HP. I don't have need right now for a FEL, but I might in the future. I will be getting either an MX 6 72" cutter or the Frontier Series 20. 6 ft. box Blade also Frontier and the IMatch. They are delivering the new unit next week sometime. I will post some pics when I get it if I can figure out how.
I have read numerous posts over the last year and a half, and I thank you all for your vast knowledge. And sharing that with everyone.
Steve

Nice ...5055d was on my short list when I was buying ....Recommend upgrading to the 16.9 tires now before it arrives better ballast if you do add the 512 loader

I would love to have he larger tires ; 16.9, but I think it is too late. It is on the way unless they can switch them out at the dealership. I'm not sure though that I really need them for my purposes. I will be bush hogging about 20 acres a few times a year and then using a box blade for some grading.

Larger tires can sure be nice, foreman Etexas has a thread in which he had the larger tires put on his M7040. My dealer ordered all the M8540's with the larger OEM tires of the M9540, so I lucked out as I didn't have time to wait on another set.

55 HP could use the loaded 16.9 tires for sure and especially the box blade if moving dirt with it or using it as a dozer.

I think that is a normal dealer swap for a fee. :)

Congratulations on the new tractor, you picked a very good all-around utility machine!

I would toss my hat in the ring about upgrading to the 16.9 tires as well. I had a 5103 with the 13.6 tires and boy did they love to spin and spin and spin. It might be a little more $ now, but you will really be glad you did. I'm sure your dealer can switch them out for you, or order them and put them on very soon.

Also, I would encourage you to get the MX6. It's a heavier cutter that you will really enjoy. I have one and I love it. That thing will chew anything up, and it mows very well.

Most of all, enjoy the new machine!
