I had a 50 gallon fuel tank, starting unit and a couple extra batteries in the back of mine at work. It did real good at going straight but slick corners could be a problem with all the weight in back.

None of those UTVs do well in the snow. The tire sizes are a bad joke!

I added larger Kevlar tires and a mild lift kit to my MULE but I may be destroying the drivetrain in doing so.

Nobody into miniguns?

As far as snow the UTV models with independent suspension like polaris/yamaha/honda will run circles around the solid axle models like the mule and older gators which have more of a golf cart suspension and low clearance.

Designation - M-Gator A1 Diesel Utility Vehicle
The seats are slightly more HD than stock, and of course they are subdued. Wouldn't want bright yellow seats in the field.
Tires are run flat tracker p emt
No armor, but strengthened airborne frame
List price around $21k

Not strengthened frame, after thought sub frame to support the ROPS that originally did not come on them. They get stuck way to easy. Really designed for stretcher movement from flight line to hospital. The four flat corner pieces in the front basket support the legs of a standard stretcher. Also the back sides lay down flat to accept two more stretchers side by side.

M-Gator A1 | Military Utility Vehicles | John Deere US

Sgt Felipe Pereira, 101st ABN, received the Distinguished Service Cross on one, though not willingly.
The outpost was just behind them, but the Taliban were everywhere; dodging through trees, and taking pot shots from the market. Out of necessity, Pereira ran inside the base and found a John Deere Gator used to haul trash.

典hat thing was bare bones, Pereira told Stars and Stripes. 的t was nothing you would ever take to combat whatsoever.

His lung began to collapse as he hurried to the base, choking him from the inside, but Pereira refused medical treatment because his men were alone, wounded, and needed help.

Struggling to breathe, Pereira rode the John Deere back into heavy enemy fire to provide a chance to evacuate his wounded soldiers, his citation recounts. Making it within 20 meters, he provided cover fire from his seat as his fellow soldiers loaded two of the wounded aboard. Bullets ricocheted off the vehicle, narrowly missing Pereira.

He made it back to the outpost with the wounded where medics waited to receive them. He then quickly returned with the vehicle to the battle to evacuate the remaining wounded men.

Once Pereira made it back inside the base with all his men safe, he took his helmet off and collapsed.

Amazing what some humans experience. But the "ricocheted off the vehicle" seems like something out of a Holywood movie. I have seen how 5.56 NATO FMJ and probably the (former) soviet round, will go through 1/4" steel like it isn't there. What's in that Gator to deflect such a round?

Depends on the angle of the dangle....

"Angle of Incidence."

Then again, a friend of mine was ambushed by four Iraqis firing AK's full auto at a range of less than 25m. He returned fire with his M4 and they skedaddled.

When he got back to base, they went around the HMMWV to count bullet holes. Zero. Over 100 rounds fired, all missed a vehicle that is not small....

Maybe they spend too much time firing into the air (while shaking their little fists at the sky) turning the barrels red hot and warping them.

We used to shoot at cans a lot on gravel at about a hundred yards with 5.56 and 7.62. It always amazed me, how the cans could get perforated just by hitting the gravel and missing the can.

If I consider the skin on my Duramax HD to be of similar material, this doesn't lend the cover, one sees in the movies.
