Deere 4110, Kubota G5200
this is my first post, and its not a happy one! i have trolled around this forum aplenty though!

anyways, the tractor i picked up is a 2003 deere 4110 TLB (410 loader, 46 backhoe) has about 230 hours on it. the previous owner bought it new and used it to build his house, then when he got finished with his house, he bought some kind of home depot deere and the 4110 was sitting for almost 2 years before he decided to sell it to me. we got there and the battery was shot, so were both terminals, we got those working fine. Here is where the problems started. i believe i shorted the headlights while trying to hook up jumpers, they flashed extremely bright then died, funny thing is, both headlight bulbs WORK, i tested them numerous times, and also, the fuses are fine! (tried several different new ones to confirm). the turn signals work funny too, first position is hazards, second position is nothing, third position is hazards again and no headlights, any ideas? the battery ground is fine, dont know if there are any others though.

biggest "problem" may not even be a problem, which is the 410 loader, the loader joystick only has two ways it can go, up (which lifts and tilts the loader bucket back) and down (which uncurls it to level) then when the loader is on the ground it dumps :confused2: even when i try to float it, the loader keeps uncurling! the valve assembly for this tractor is 1400 bucks new, is it possible to rebuild? the deere dealers around here are clueless, one of them told me it was normal and said it was just the auto levelling  the other dealer kept pushing me to bring it in so they can take a look at it.....:mur:

anyone have any ideas as to what i can check? hydraulic fluid was going through all the quick connects, and all the features of the loader are functional, just not in the correct way

sounds like some crossed hoses on the loader quick connects, also check your private messages for more info

the quick connects have never been disconnected, the actual lever itself doesnt move left or right, just up and down, i looked at the linkage and it all moves together, is this some kind of cruel joke by deere?

My neighbor has the same machine 4110/410/46 and the loader on that works the same as every "normal" loader I have ever used.. There is something wrong with yours. Yes, the valves are rebuildable/repairable. With the issues you are having I would recommend investing in a service manual for your tractor. They can be purchased online and are the same manual the Deere tech would use to fix your tractor. https://techpubs.deere.com/products/ProductSearch.aspx?o=market&market=Commercial%20%26%20Residential

Also look at http://www.jdparts.com you will have to register but it will not only provide you the parts break down but some very nice assembly drawings.

I doubt you have auto-leveling bucket. It can be difficult to engage "float" which is all the way down. At least it is on my 4115. Your lever should go east/west in addittion to n/s. Spray some lube on the linkage at the bottom of the lever. It may be frozen from not being usewd in a long time.
Good luck

I have a 4100 and my spool valve or as deere calls it an SCV was very difficult to get into float mode as it was never used. It has 150hrs on it, 120 when I bought it. I had an issue similar with my bucket working. Turned out to be one of the quick disconnects had come partially loose. Not enough to come out or leak, but enough to work wrong.

As far as the lights. Check all your grounds. Since the battery terminals went kapoot it's highly likely that one of the grounds near the battery is bad or came off when you repaired it. There's also an electronic control box on top of the rear diff underneath the seat that controls that. There's a possibility it could have shorted out if the truck drew to much amperage or the jumpers got crossed it could've shorted out.

Good luck. They're great tractors!

Just outboard the loader joystick, you should see a sticker with a schematic of the joystick functions. There is also a locking device that prevents certain movement of the stick...
As far as this problem, that's the first place I'd look.

This is a link to the Operator's Manual:

The section you want to read is "Using Selective Control Valve (SCV) Lock Lever"
