Just got some Loctite 510

I'm finally going to seal the plate on top of the hydraulic fluid tank. Anything in particular I need to know other than give everything a very good cleaning before applying? Is there a certain torque for the bolts or just get them tight?

Not tight - just barely past snug. The plastic will strip quite easily. As long as the screws don't fall out, you will be good to go.

I recommend a three-fingered grip on the screwdriver. The sealant will prevent leaks and help to hold the flange.

I guess this "mod" should be filed under the "Why did I wait so long?" category. I have about 6 hours on the PT since sealing the plate and what a difference!
Anybody still putting up with the grime around the tank plate needs to do this....quick and easy job.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have always had trouble getting Loctite to hold in oily situations. What I recommend is getting screws with a nylon patch on them. They seem to be much more impervious to grease. Mcmaster Carr sells them in pretty much any size, and they are not all that expensive.

I was thinking fuel tank, not hydraulic tank. Disregard the above comments.
