My state does not require seatbelt use for drivers over 18, and I've been known to not use them from time to time for short drives. Both of my vehicles only ding twice if they're not buckled, once after about a mile and again after 3-ish miles, then it stops.I've worn my seatbelt religously since 1980, when I was in a junkyard and saw the damage a person's shoulder can do to the door of a '70s Ford pickup. Yet I don't understand why manufacturers need to make it more and more obnoxious to do things like seatbelts or taking the key out of the ignition. I've spent more time than you can imagine looking for the keys to my company Tundra after fueling the truck.
Once upon a time you could either disconnect the key detection switch, or at least stop the chime by pulling the key out 1/4" or so, but you can't do that anymore. No obvious way to disable the chime either...probably need one of those fancy $$$ scan tools.
