Just bought my second Kioti

Basically, I am an old guy that likes working with tractors. Just replaced my old Lk3504 with a CK 30 HST. I am new to hydrostatic transmissions, and will try to unravel their mystery over the next few months. Implements include FEL, Brush cutter and Box blade. Tractor had 288 hrs on it when I bought it.

Congratulations on the new tractor. I've had mine for six years and the hst, for me, makes my jobs easier. I do most of my work in medium range. High is more to just get around faster with lighter loading and low is for the tough pulls or pushing. You might have read this but don't just mash the pedal down like you would in a car or truck auto trans. Give it a 2-3 second count to full pedal.

One other thing to be aware of is: when choosing a range, say medium, make sure you are fully engaged with the range selector lever, if not, sometimes I've found the selector may disengage and if on a steep hill with a FEL load you may find yourself suddenly picking up speed- so obviously step on the brakes. This is less likely- IMPE with a gear tractor, so just a word of caution. Also, related to HST is the fact that if you let off the forward or reverse pedal the tractor will come to a stop, though it will still roll slowly, depending on slope/load.
