Just bought a new M7040 HD with LA 1153 FEL

Thanks to some very good info on this site, I chose to go Orange. I really like this unit. Have not taken delivery of it yet. Possibly tomorrow. My 50 acre hobby farm is in Western Upstate NY. I live in Gettysburg, PA. The farm is my stomping ground neighborhood and will go back permantly in 5-8 years.

For now, building a pond, cleaning up downed trees in the 30 acres of woods, brush hogging 20 acres, planting food crops for wildlife and maybe a little haying and corn next year. And , of course, plenty of hunting !!

I wanted one tractor to fit my needs, even if I decide to do a little more. Hopefully this size tractor fits the bill.

I have a 2007 New Holland ,TC35DA with FEL, 7 foot belly mower and a 1973 574 IH diesel that I am swapping in for it.

The TC was for my wife at our PA home and 3 acres, but it's just a little too big for that situation, but too small for the farm for what I do.

Thanks again for all the terrific information that eventually led me to Kubota. I hope to pass it down to my kids, one day.

I just hit 48 hours on my new M5040 so it is going in Monday to have the dealer do the 50 hour service.I sure hope that before spring I can get use to that hydraulic clutch.

Nice tractor. Where in NY are you? My farm is 2 miles from Keuka Lake, One of the Finger lakes. 20 minutes from Penn Yan.

I am way up near the ST Lawrence river 20 miles from Canada. I got some relation around Syracuse and Manilus.

Gotcha! My roots are from the Potsdam area. Use to visit yearly. Home right on the river. Have a very good friend with a cottage on the thousand islands. Vermont was not too far away.

Very nice. It seems with the TC series like the one I'm trading just does not have the torque with the hydrostatic tranny. I'm guessing it's just a tad bit bigger motor than my smaller TZ24DA with a 5 foot deck for lawn mowing that I had last year. The chassis on the 35 dwarfs the 24, but the engine is in the same family line. I liked it for around the house, but wife thought it was too big and she was not crazy about operating it.

The TZ24 with the 4 foot bucket was grat for her. She'd dig everything up. She's a country girl and doesn't mind getting dirty. She cleans up nice !!

I ws born,educated and worked in Potsdam at SUNY until I retired 6 years ago.I have lived here all my life except for the time I was in the military. I live out near West Potsdam.
