I have been lurking on these boards for about 3 years and have finally bought a B7800. The tractors is going to take 2-8
weeks for the dealer to get. I have 2 questions that i need help with #1: Belly mower or RFM
#2: Should i have the tires filled for the loader?

B7800
LA402 Front end Loader
60" belly mower
Toothbar
total price with delivery $16,550.00 (no sales tax out of state delivery)

Is this price any good?

Thanks in advance

Piper...congrats on the new tractor. You will love it and the work it will do for you.

On the mower, take a good look at what you are going to cut. The RFM is really nice...easy to put on and take off...does a better job that my little garden tractor on my short weeds...

The mistake I made was buying a 60" instead of a 72" last year when I bought my B2910. Whatever mower you get, get it as wide as possible so you can easily cut close to things. If you have a lot of obstacles...tress...whatever...or curved edges to cut along...pond side for example...remember that the RFM moves away from the edge as your front tires follow it around. This may or may not make it hard to cut right up to the edge...

Things might have been better in my case had I purchased a 72 inch mower. I decided to trade my mower in and get something different...a mower with a bx2200 attached to it!

Hopefully that will arrive at the dealers next week... I not holding my breath though...supply is pretty short as you know...

Loading your rear tires is a good idea for loader work, but you can also use an implement like a box blade on the back. Loaded tires add weight that you cannot take off when you are grass cutting. I have mine loaded and the tractor with r4 tires does dig in a bit when the ground is real wet. I had my front tires foam filled which is great for loader work and does not seem to be a problem on the short weeds we call grass.

I have a B7800 and love it. First I would fill the tires. I filled my and the loader will still pick the back of the tractor off the ground without an implement on. Second I went with the 72" MMM and love it. It is very easy to put on. Just drive over and attach in three different points. It only takes a couple of minutes. The best feature to me is it is easier to cut with. I don't have to continually look behind me. For the trees and objects around my house it is a lot easier on the neck. It also makes your tractor shorter and easier to get into tight spaces. Your property should determine which is better for you. If you have a lot of areas that need backing into, them go with the RFM, if not them get the MMM.

This price seems good to me. I have been looking at this size tractor for about two months. This includes looking out of state as well. Best price I found was:

7800 w/FEL $14,999 and $500 to deliver out of state
Local delaer wants $15,800 + $1145 tax

What state are you purchasing this tractor? Hopefully its in the West! : )

mmm or rfm? really depends on what u want to cut with it. and as for loaded or not, that also depends on if there are many times that the extra wight would not be good.remember loaded tires are with u all the time, and so is the extra weight.

Piper,
Just one more thought. Did you get the dealer to weld hooks on your loader. My dealer "sweetened" my deal with that, and me being the rookie I was had no idea how important they would be. I use them all the time.

Thank you for the opinions everyone.
Today i realized that the RFM would be better because i don't think i will be taking the front end loader off, i know it says quick attach but i don't have any experience taking FEL off.
I don't think i can get too close to the house with the FEL on the tractor, i think that made my mind up on that part of the question.

Kuma,
i ma purchasing the tractor on the East Coast, Maryland /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Henro,

I like your idea about the box blade for weight and Byrd's point of view about carrying the weight around all the time, i would rather buy an attachment with the money to fill the tires. How much are box blades going for?

Thank you,

Piper

IMHO I'd go with the RFM to start with. If your doing FEL work
the RFM could be used for weight balance. A MMM will almost certainly get in your way one day, due to clearance.

Plus, the tractor looks cleaner when the RFM is parked.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

(A B7800 owner with a BB60) no RFM or MMM "yet" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
