I used a poor choice of words to relate the gist of my point...it was not meant to demean anyone's preference but after re-reading my post it did seem to come across that way...sorry...!
W.U. has been around a long time and has a respectable user base so they must be reliable...don't know what's up with TWC and them naming winter weather systems though...:laughing: I guess they are grasping at straws for recognition?

If the story is accurate the head guy at the weather channel ran afoul of the global warming crowd and said so on air.
He (I think his name was Joe) now runs a private (for profit) forecasting agency that supports industry with on demand site specific forecast.

John Coleman is his name and you're correct, he is an apostate from The Church of Global Warming.

I also believe that naming every storm that comes along is goofy to say it politely.
But it is in line with all television news, it has been reduced to something a six year old can understand.
