Was having an issue with my Ford 1710 hydraulics so I started browsing and came across this site. Spent about four hours reading - what a great group! Lots of good info here.
I agree with most of the information reported here about my 1710 with FWA and FEL with turf tires. It is a great little tractor for what it is - sometimes it is too small (I grew up on a large farm/ranch.) and often it is just right. I have 18 acres 12 of which are under water so I have used this for a variety of tasks. I am still absolutely amazed that it handles a 5' Bush Hog well enough to go through my back area. When I run over a 3" diameter tree it shakes pretty good but keeps right on going. Its hydraulics are a little slow but very strong as I have had a few wild rides when doing things I probably should not have.
Implements I use - tiller, back blade, landscape rake, finish mower, bush hog, carry-all, box blade, seedbed leveler, hay rake, ball hitch trailer to name a few. I use it about once a week for some little item and do not know what i would do without it.
I only have about 1200 hours on it but have not had any significant problems. the Starter solenoid, a mouse chewing some wires, and a couple of small hydraulic issues due to some of the things I have tried. Gret all-purpose junior tractor!
