Has anyone bought the Judge 45-410 hand gun? How long did you have to wait to get it and how do you like it?

I looked at one the other day and thought that it was a cool weapon (I didn't buy it). Can somebody explain why this pistol is not considered a short-barrelled shotgun? I assume that it's all perfectly legal (I've seen them in at least three gun stores), but I also thought that shotgun barrels had to be 18" long. Is this exempt/different because it is a designed handgun from the beginning? I've seen a couple of $100 one and two shot derringer-style pistols chambered in .45 LC and .410, and they only have 4 or 5 inch barrels. This looks like a much improved version of that type of weapon.

I have one -- wait to get it? ...I walked in, bought it, walked out ..... I've only shot it once to check it out ... has a pretty good recoil - more than my 45acp -- but nothing a grown man can't handle without a problem. My wife is short & skinny -- don't think she'd like trying it. I haven't tried snake shot through it yet - just 45lc and 410 slugs ---I bought it mainly as a tractor / snake gun. I have as yet to buy a holster for it .... other things seem to take my free time for little things like that.

Got one several months ago. It is a handful but I've killed a copperhead with it and it's pretty good having the .410 and .45 in the same handgun. I carry it in a special holster (big) on my 4 wheeler and my RTV. It's unique capabilities make it a pretty good addition to the collection. There was not wait here in Virginia...

I'm coming close to getting a night court judge. About 15 ys ago there was one of the 'low end' companies.. like lorcin.. raven / phoenix arms.. etc.. that had the very same design.. .410/45lc revolver.. was a plain black paint.. or parkerized gun.. can't recall which.. was cheap.. like 145$.. didn't catch on.. now fast forward a decade and a half.. and it's getting talked up alot.


What I'm holding out for is a 460 or a 500 revolver.. almost 'pulled the triger' so to speak, on a 460 a few weeks back.. but have managed to hold off till the next gun show to check more prices... Dang 500 is so big it looks like a flair gun.. especially with the day-glow yellow and hunter orange grips i've seen on them..

Tiller, are you looking for the 2.5 inch chamber or the 3 inch? The 2.5 inch chambers are readily available around here, but I have not been able to locate a 3 inch. Wish I could.

I found a used one today and bought it. It is stainless steel with a 3 inch barrel. New ones are hard to get around here, sign your name, leave some money and wait. It could be a few weeks or several months. I played with it some today and it was a lot of fun. The 410 had a 6 inch pattern at 5 feet and the 45 blew the back side out of a 2x10 like I couldn't believe. I do need ear muffs though!! I am on the hunt for some 410 shells that have a larger shot size. One of the largest sporting goods store around here had nothing larger than 6 shot.

My father-in-law went and put money down on one for the store to order......month or so passed and it never came in.

So, he got his money back and went to another store and walked out with one.

I can see the purpose but they aren't my style. He hadn't shot it yet and neither have I. I think he bought the longer (6.5"???) barrel.

Like I said, I guess it's more function over form, I think they are odd looking.

So the .410 shell is harder to hang on to than the .45lc? What about compared to a .44 mag?
