Due to a technicallity, (cc change) Homestead hosting services lost my domain name. Someone in Las Vagas grabbed it up and is offering it for sale! :( I will not even contact them to see how much! I am in process of registering a new domain: http://johnsjinma.com/ You can still access it with the Homestead name: johnstractor

PS: Sorry, this has been like this for a couple of months.

Thanks for the offer. Those are low prices. The JohnsTractor domain was a "free" one with the hosting service. Anyway, the new domain should be working now: johnsjinma

John,

Thanks for keeping your site available.
The information there is a useful resource and reference for me.

Suspect that a lot of chinese tractor owners use it.
Appreciate your sharing.

I hate when that happens, We had similar problems about 4 years back, on our site when trying to switch from one provider to a 2nd, had to do the same thing, changed the name :( internet thief.dom or is that thief . com ? lol

Hi John:

Ya I been here reading a lot all the time but not a lot of stuff I could help out with so few posts lately. I'm still nursing my 248, the clutch is loosing all feel so I don't only use it when needed. pretty much closed her in this winter too. haven't needed her to plow snow as not enough snow to worry about lol... :)

maybe soon she will get fired up though. not to mention the cost of fuel! 350+ gallon for it here. how is it up there in NY?

Hi John and Mark too!
funny thing, I was reading about John loosing his domain and the next day I got an email from my host service saying my credit card was expired. better believe I got them a new number right away! So I appreciate the heads up. I wondered who really owned the URLs I got through that provider. (same as JohnS had).

it kind of makes you wonder if anyone actually NABBED the name? more than likely it was held hostage by someone attempting to extort $ from the original owners. I'm sure it has worked many times for them, but what really makes me wonder is HOW these guys are finding out a domain license expired with out getting renewed fast enough? I think what CHIP said was how ours got nabbed it was set up with a card that expired, when it was renewed there was a different code, we didn't realize it and it wasn't bought as soon as it should have been. We already had a different host/provider setup with the parent company so we simply left them stuck owning the domain we hadn't planned on doing much with anyways...:D

my biggest wonder is HOW these people can NAB the name so fast???? They HAVE to have some sort of INSIDE info through either the people who assign them and or the web sites that are hosting the domains? I think the ones who are watching over the domain lists have inside trading going on some how ??? Maybe some help from providers who while supposed to re-submit the domain already has the info and the expired card goes and tells MR Domain Name Thief that we have a domain that is about to expire and they didn't provide any new card info so it can be stole at 1201 am on XX day?

Mark,

with a little S/w it is probably fairly easy. They can query and find experation dates, and there is probably a way for them to gauge domain activity, and if it reaches some threashold snatch up the name. It also would not surprise me if they targeted small users at servers like Homestead.

PS: I will have to keep an eye out next oct and see if I can snatch it back!

Good day to all,

I am happy for you John that the situation is fixed and you could get your site back up. Thanks to you and your web site, I am now the proud owner of a Jinma 284 for the last 3 months. With the winter we are getting in Atlantic Canada this year and 500 ft of driveway, believe me, it is one of my toys the wife do not complain about :D .

I wish you all a prosper and a happy new year.

Marc
