John Deere X540 model year

I live in Europe and I have just bought a new John Deere lawn mower X540.
The tractor was delivered today, but having a look to see if everything is right, I'm a bit surprised to see it was built in early 2012.
Do you think it is normal that a tractor sold in May 2014 was built in March 2012?

I would agree that is "aged inventory" somewhat but should be okay as long as the warranty registration is filed correctly. That is a nice mower enjoy it.

where do you see that it is built in 2012? what are the last 6 numbers of the VIN ?

The VIN last 6 digits are: 080579 that should mean 2013 according to Tractordata. But several parts (brake pipes, electrical wiring,etc) have a label with assembling date and they are all around early or mid 2012.

You are correct.... it's a 2013 model. Not uncommon to see parts on the machine manufactured the previous year. You purchased a great machine ! enjoy !
