john deere wont sterr

working on an john deere 9420..sterring went out ..took the hyd pump out had it looked at couldnt find any thing wrong with it...put it back on took hyd filter off and started the engine with the filter off and bearly any hyd oil comes out...is there a check value?

Some pumps will prime themselves and other will not with out some help.

Try adding some air to the reservoir. Maybe 20 to 30 psi.
