Well, their CUTs and SCUTs have been made in Japan for years. Maybe Yanmar has started outsourcing to China?

You are not going to find any tractor any color or brand under 50ish Hp made in the US. All are made overseas in China, Japan, Korea, and others. My neighbors 33 HP JD is all Yanmar minus the paint color and names on the stickers plus the high price.

I expect to be at the Jinma factory next week but most likely not the motor source. In my experience in other industries, it's not uncommon to see at the final end of the assembly operation: Some workers putting Brand X on the product and other workers sticking Brand Y stickers on the same thing. If I see the subcontract engine plant, I'll look for same engines all shipping with different colored labels and badges.

I can't speak for JD, but for sure, there are no sacred cows left. I have a couple of Komatsu's which sport re-badged Yanmar engines. I understand that Cat's up to D-5 are built by Mitsubishi now .. F-16's in Turkey, Mig 21's in India .. the Caddy CTS is a re-badged Opel. On the flip side, Komatsu is building loaders in Tennessee

You though wrong. They use slick wording like "Proudly Assembled in America". That means they come over in a crate, then take to a assembly plant that does nothing more than put on the steering wheel, tires, and ROPS. I see it every week. One of the places I fly is Ruston LA and there is a old WalMart type building that has the parking lot full of 95% complete tractors. I mean a couple hundred. They have bunch of ya hoo's in they with impact guns throwing them together and out the other end into the back lot and loaded on semi's to head out to the dealers. Its right at the intersection of Highway 20 and State Road 167 near all the hotels. I walk over and watch from time to time.

the engine in my 5203 is made by Deere in their Mexico plant. it's a 2.9 PowerTech 3cyl turbo and has been around for years in Deere's utility line. the tractor is assembled in India at the Deere plant there and the front axle is made by Dana.

Like I said we are talking about small tractors, 50HP or less. Your Deere is in the 48 HP range and does fall into that category but is the exception to the general rule Its on the large size and is not considered by me as a CUT.
