I am considering a JD LX277 48" deck (hours, age unknown) for $1600 and a JD 320 (not X320), 1994 model, 600 hrs, 48" deck for $1650.

The LX277 has new bearings, etc., in the deck. The 320 has new rear tires. Both are in good condition.

Which should I pick?

Thanks!

While I love my LX277, it is based on the earlier LX100 series and is a Lawn Tractor. Approx 500cc Kawi (17hp) engine with a Kanzaki TuffTorq transmission, 15" front and 20" rear tires.

The 320 is based on the previous 200 Series (240, 260, 265, 285) and is a Garden Tractor, albeit a light one - no shaft drive. Approx 600cc Kawi (18hp) engine with a Sundstrand transmission, 16" front and 23" rear tires.

If both machines seem to be in similar condition, I would choose the 320.
