John deere lx 188 keeps quitting 17 hp kawasaki water cooles

I have a John deere lx 188 water cooled 17 hp kawasaki, that keeps quitting after mowing for a while, it gets hot and wants to quit, let it sit 15 minutes and it will start again, it act's like it has some thing cutting off the key, I think it is electrical but not sure.

Sounds like a coil or igniter breaking down . Those are the classic symptoms .

i would go with kevin its your coil .....if you find out let us know .. the next time it stops see if you have spark at the plug ...let it sit and try it again later like you say 15 min and see if you have spark .. there is a spark tester you plug in the line saves pulling the plug .good luck

Greetings and welcome to TBN. Keep you a bottle of water on your mower. The next time it quits pour it on the coil to see if fires back up. The cover is waterproof but usually has a heatsink is where to pout the water. All good advise. We also have a John Deer Lawn and Garden area where more eyes can hear your problem.
