John Deere LX 178 Won't turn over

My John Deere LX 178 just came back from dealership having new water pump installed. Ran fine for a day. Now it won't start. When I turn the key to the 2nd position, the starter starts cranking. (this should happen on position 3, not position 2). If I turn it to position 3, the starter wont shut off. Bad solenoid? Bad starter? Bad control board? HELP! Where do i start?

I would call the dealer and see what might be wrong. Cant see a water pump change doing anything to the start system other than unplugging connectors.
you might look at all the underhood connectors and make sure they are all tight.
