John Deere LT160 bogs down???

Tractor was running perfect until several days ago while I was leaf collection and now the tractor isn't running properly.

-The tractor bogs down especially at high RPM's
-It will start and run but the egine almost seems to sputter
-When I pulled and changed the plug it was dry and black (I assume thats carbon)


These are the thing I already did with no luck.

-Changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plug, recently changed the oil, quickly sprayed carb cleaner in the carb, removed the gas cap (and ran the engine), removed the entire air filter assembly (and ran the engine.)


Any ideas??

Follow the fuel line, maybe you got a kink or bad spot. You may need to replace it.

Replaced the fuel, went through it again and still at high RPM's it surges.

At 1/2 throttle - down to idle it runs perfect. About 3/4 throttle up it surges and black smoke sputters out.

Any thoughts

sounds like something in the carberator. I would take it apart and rebuild it.
