John Deere LA15

My mother in law traded in her broom for an LA15 today(that's just a joke, I love my MIL), and I was wondering if any of you good folks had any advice or recommendations considering this lawn tractor. It has the 19.5 HP Briggs and a 42" deck. I'm the one who will be going over and taking care of it, being that she is a recent widow. I've been strictly Kubota and Farmall for years, and know very little about JD's. Any advice?

If she got it new, just follow the manual's instructions. If it's used, then I'd change the oil, air filter and any other filters and check the hyro fluid level (if possible) to establish a base where you know everything is at the proper levels and clean.

Sorry, it is a John Deere LA115. It's a Lowes tractor, made by JD. I haven't heard too many good things about them. She didn't want to pay the extra $1,000.00 it would cost to get a Kubota or Deere from the dealer. It is brand new.
