I am new to this list so bare with me.

I have owned this tractor since new in 1998. aprox 650 hrs on it. Up untill this year, I had never used the float position on the loader. To tell the truth I never new what it was.

When I tried it, it seemed to work fine. The next day I used it again, when I tried to dump the bucket, it would barely tip forward. I have removed the scv valve to clean and inspect it before replacing the hydraulic fluid. The valve spools are spotless and the end springs are clean w/no rust or dirt.

When this happened, the bucket would raise and lower with normal engine sound but would sound a little like a drag on the engine when the scv was in the neutral position. Is it possible that the spool could be stuck in a partial float position?

I retired from the auto repair business after 44 years so I understand hydraulics, just not tractors. The valve is still apart as I think I am not seeing the problem. As a side note, I have an scv apart from a Kabota that had a similar symptom that turned out to have a corroded housing on the end of the spool.
Any help would be much appreciated. Ray

if raises and lowers properly it is not stuck in float.
Possible one of the quick disconnects on the curl circuit was not fully connected causing the tilt to not work.

How about the the cable that is controlling the valve? I’m guessing jamming the lever and cable into float did something to the cable and or adjustment.

Just my SWAG!

Thanks for the reply. I came to the same conclusion before I took the scv off but I was going to replace the fluid and filter anyway as it was time to do the maintenance. I had planned to remove and clean the scv so I had the fluid and o rings ready. As I was thinking back to when the problem happened, I think that I might have created the problem by not pulling the joystick back far enough to take the spool out of the float position. I am not sure if it is possible. I have checked all of the hydraulic lines and hoses for kinks and dents and have found none, so I will put everything back together and cross my fingers.
Thanks again Ray
