1988 John Deere Hydro 175
Hey all,

I have a John Deere Hydro 175 and I’m looking for a bagger system to go with it. Been searching for a few months now and anything I find is bits and pieces or torn or ultimately not being what is being advertised. Anyone have advice on where to purchase a bagger system or if they’ve had luck altering a different bagger system to fit?

The part number for the non-powerflow bagger is JDWBM16790. I would be astounded if you could actually walk into a Deere dealer (or order online) a new bagger for a mower built in 1989, but who knows. I didn't have any luck on JD parts with that number.

It might be worth looking for a complete JD 100 series lawn tractor from that era that comes with a bagger.

Without knowing anything about your property, needs, etc. you might look around for a used Trac Vac, Cyclone Rake etc. which would be a lot more capable than the typical mounted bagger. If I recall, the old 175 is a lot more capable machine than the current "100 series".

It’s 2 acres of mixed weeds and grass. It grows stupidly quick as well. I cut it every Saturday to 2.5 inches and by the following Saturday it’s 5+ inches. I can’t dedicate the time to do multiple passes and slowly lower the cut to 2.5 inches. I need one pass and done. But of course with cutting off 2.5 inches off in a single cut causes a ton of clumping and piling.

Sounds like a heavy duty job. I think a tow behind with it's own blower would work better. With a power flow you would be mowing pretty slow, I would guess.

I have a complete used bagger unit from a 175 Hydro I’d let go cheap. Although depending on your location, it might not be feasible. I can’t imagine what it’d take to ship it. I’m in central Illinois.
